There are 12 grades altogether which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The exams encourage students to develop and progress by acknowledging each step forward; at every stage of the student's development there is a chance to mark success.

Many people choose the Trinity GESE Exam to support their application for a Spouse/Partner Visa because this exam is UKBA approved. If you are applying for a Spouse/Partner visa you must choose Grade 2 when booking the exam.

There are four stages with three grades at each stage:

  • Initial (Grades 1-3)
  • Elementary (Grades 4-6)
  • Intermediate (Grades 7-9)
  • Advanced (Grades 10-12)

The GESE Syllabus is available for download and provides complete academic information. With 12 grades available, there is a grade to suit every candidate. The number of tasks depends on the level at which students enter the examination. The language requirements for each of the 12 Grades is clearly shown in the GESE Syllabus. The assessment is a balance between fluency and accuracy. To book now click here »
