How can I enrol for a Cambridge ESOL examination?

How do I pay for my examination?
You can pay by cheque or postal order made payable to 'London Crest Open Centre' and send it with your Registration Form to London Crest Open Centre, 192b Station Road, Edgware, HA8 7AR. You can also pay directly at the centre or pay over the phone with a debit or credit card (please note a £3 charge will be added for credit card payments).
Can I enrol for more than one examination at the same time?
Yes, but you must complete a separate entry form for each examination and pay the appropriate fee.
How do I know if I am eligible to take an ESOL examination?
These examinations are only for those whose first language is not English
Do I have to attend a course in order to sit an examination?
No, although to be thoroughly prepared for the examination you may wish to attend a preparation course.
How will I know when and where to take my examination?
London Crest Open Centre will send you full details of when and where your examination will take place.
Can I choose which day to take my Speaking Test?
No. London Crest Open Centre will let you know on which day your Speaking Test will be held.
When must I arrive at the examination venue?
You must arrive at least 15 minutes before each examination.
What do I need to bring to the examination?
You must take all your Statement of Entry Documentation which includes:
Timetable
Personal Details
You must also take with you your Passport or Identity Card (if you do not have suitable ID you will be given a Proof of Identity Form to complete)
Pen, pencil (B or HB), eraser and sharpener
If my name is not spelt correctly on my Statement of Entry, what should I do?
You must tell the Supervisor when you arrive at your first examination
How will I know when to use pen or pencil?
Your supervisor will give you full instructions before the start of each examination. Remember to bring pen, pencil, eraser and sharpener with you
Can I use a dictionary or spell checker during the examination?
No.
Can I use correction fluid in the exam?
You may only use correction fluid for the Writing papers.
What happens if I am ill and unable to take the examination?
If a candidate misses the examination because of illness or withdraws on medical grounds, London Crest Open Centre will make a full refund of the University Fee (approximately half of the total fee). The Local Fee is used to cover preparation costs. A written request for refund must be received by our office within seven days after the exam.
You must send:
A medical statement in ENGLISH giving the medical reasons why the candidate was unable to sit the examination
Details of where the partial refund should be sent
If I cannot take the examination, will I get a refund?
No, except as in the case of illness and if you can provide official documentation such as a doctor's certificate. See the note above.
Is it possible to transfer the examination fee to a later session?
No, as preparations will have been made for the candidate to sit the examination at that session.
Am I allowed to bring my mobile phone or pager into the examination?
No, definitely not!
Can I take my bag and coat into the examination?
You will be asked by the Supervisor to leave them in the designated area. But they will not be allowed to be left next to you in the examination hall.
Can I eat, drink or smoke during the examination?
No, sorry!
