Many people choose the Trinity GESE Exam to support their application for a Spouse/Partner Visa or for Citizenship/ Settlement/ ILR visa because this exam is UKBA approved.
The fees are as follows:
Grade 1-2 £105 *Grade 2 = Level A1 Spouse /Partner Visa
Grade 3-6 £125 *Grade 5 = Level B1 Settlement/Citizenship/ILR visa
Grade 7-9 £135
Grade 10-12 £145

The GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) exams test candidates’ ability in listening and speaking. They are assessed in one-to-one oral examinations with a Trinity examiner.
There are 12 grades altogether which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The exams encourage students to develop and progress by acknowledging each step forward; at every stage of the student’s development there is a chance to mark success.

Many people choose the Trinity GESE Exam to support their application for a Spouse/Partner Visa because this exam is UKBA approved. If you are applying for a Spouse/Partner visa you must choose Grade 2 when booking the exam.
There are four stages with three grades at each stage:
- Initial (Grades 1-3)
- Elementary (Grades 4-6)
- Intermediate (Grades 7-9)
- Advanced (Grades 10-12)
Exam duration: 5-7 minutes

The GESE Syllabus is available for download and provides complete academic information. With 12 grades available, there is a grade to suit every candidate. The number of tasks depends on the level at which students enter the examination. The language requirements for each of the 12 Grades is clearly shown in the GESE Syllabus. The assessment is a balance between fluency and accuracy.
The Trinity exams; GESE or Graded Exams in Spoken English are suitable for candidates who have learnt English as a second or additional language. The Trinity Exams: Grade 5 and above are UKBA approved as a Level B1 English Test for Immigration purposes while the Trinity Exams: Grade 2 and above are UKBA approved Level A1 English Test for Immigration. The B1 English test is suitable for British Naturalisation/ILR/citizenships purposes while the A1 English Test is ideal for spouse visas. The Trinity Tests can be taken alone or can be combined with Integrated English Skills to demonstrate additional language skills. Please note: Candidates need to ascertain their language skill requirements before booking any Trinity Test for immigration purposes.
